Thursday, July 31, 2003Bill McKenzie of the Dallas Morning News criticizes Republicans for trying to recall Gray Davis. I, like a host of other conservatives, have doubts about the recall measure, but McKenzie's criticism is unwarranted. The voter recall is part of California's constitution, and has never been used recklessly. For McKenzie to act as though this is a bunch of crybabies trying to thwart the will of people is absurd. Davis barely won a majority of votes, and his record of deciet and negligence is staggering. As I already said, I'm still not at peace with the idea of a recall. Yet to argue that the voters in California are simply throwing a hissy fit is to disregard a very serious political issue.
